What you may do with the plugin you buy, what it and the samples contain from others, and the licences of this site's own parts.
Orrery Terrain on Fab
Buying and seats
Orrery Terrain is sold on Fab under Fab's Standard License. Fab sells code plugins per seat, and that is Fab's rule for every code plugin on Fab, not a term of ours.

On Fab
Orrery Terrain on Fab is sold under Fab’s Standard License, the Fab End User License Agreement (https://www.fab.com/eula, last updated 1 October 2024). We add no extra licence on Fab: Fab states that content “is licensed only under the Fab End User License Agreement, which is not superseded by custom licenses included in Content’s distributed files”.
Tiers
- Personal: a buyer who, together with any controlling entity and entities under common control, has not generated more than $100,000 USD in gross revenue from commercial activity in the digital content industry in the last 12 months (advances and funds raised count).
- Professional: a buyer above that line.
- Only revenue counts; there is no team-size rule. Fab’s summary says both tiers grant “the same scope of rights”, and a buyer who later crosses the line needs no upgrade. A buyer who bought a tier they were not eligible for owes the difference on request.

Seats
“Code plugins … are offered to you on a per-seat basis and may only be used by the number of users that you have purchased licenses for.” One seat is one user. You may share the plugin source with your employees, affiliates and contractors while they work on your project, as long as they do not exceed the seats you bought, and they must delete it when the project no longer needs it.
Shipping a game
You may distribute a game or app that includes the plugin: end users may use it “solely as incorporated in the Project in object code”. So the compiled plugin may ship inside your game.
Not permitted
- Resell, rent or redistribute the plugin or its source on its own, or give it away.
- Let third parties incorporate it into their own products, or put it into a level editor or template that lets users export works made with it.
- Reverse engineer it, or remove its notices.
- Make the plugin the main point of your product: it must be a component of something that adds value.
- Use it as input to train generative AI if the listing carries the NoAI tag.
Unreal Engine plugins may only be distributed as part of a project as “Engine Tools under the Unreal Engine Agreement” (EULA 5b). There is no warranty (“as is”).
Source code
The source is included with the plugin (Fab requires the engine-dependent source in the upload). The licence covers use in your own projects, not publishing the source or giving it to people who have not bought a seat.
Third-party content
See the third-party notices page. The plugin contains no third-party libraries or content and no code adapted from Unreal Engine source; it uses the engine’s public API.
Copyright line
Every shipped source and header file carries // Copyright 2026 Jolan Brughmans. All Rights Reserved. Fab requires the publisher’s name and the year of intended publishing in every source and header file (Technical Requirements 4.3.6.1.b).
Refunds
Fab’s refund policy applies (https://www.fab.com/refund-policy): a buyer may get a refund within 14 days of purchase if they never downloaded the product, or if it does not match its description. Refunds come off the seller’s next payout.

Third-party notices
Result
The plugin contains no third-party libraries, no third-party content and no code adapted from Unreal Engine source. Its source has been compared with Unreal Engine 5.8’s Landscape sources, and the only matching passages are the lines below, each reviewed. What the plugin has in common with the engine:
- The engine’s interface. The plugin calls the engine’s public API. Its vertex factories, scene proxies and a few editor and PCG classes contain the lines the engine requires of every such class: the entry points the engine calls, their signatures, the parameter fields the engine requires, and registration macros. Its height textures use the layout that Landscape uses and the engine’s heightfield lighting reads (height in red and green, normal in blue and alpha).
- Common code patterns. A few short loops and checks (a walk over a rectangle of tiles, a search by name) read like lines in the engine, because there are few ways to write them.
- Comments. Comments name Landscape and other engine code, for example to say which engine behaviour the terrain matches. Two of them cite a Landscape source file and line.

The plugin links against Unreal Engine modules (Core, RenderCore, RHI, Mass and others declared in its .Build.cs files). The engine is not redistributed; it is the buyer’s own installation under the Unreal Engine EULA.
The samples project (separate download, not part of the plugin)
The example project OrreryTerrainSamples carries the sources below. The project carries its own source lists with the pages, retrieval dates and processing.

The textures and the Poly Haven meshes are public-domain dedications, listed for traceability. The swisstopo credit appears in the samples’ README, on-screen panel, credits file, the store listing and these notices; the USGS credit in the README, the store listing and the credits file. The samples contain no Fab or Quixel Megascans content.
The rest of the samples is not from a third party:
- Own work, made by scripts from Unreal Engine classes: the prop colour materials, the grass tuft mesh, material and grass type, the lake water material and its wave normal map, and the sequences and capture settings.
- Unreal Engine content, used under the Unreal Engine EULA and referenced, not copied: the engine basic shapes (cylinder, cone, sphere, cube) that the trunks, crowns, rocks and huts use, and the engine’s simple volumetric cloud material, the parent of the overcast cloud material instance.
The samples project
The samples project is a separate download. Besides our own content, it contains:
- Elevation data derived from swisstopo's swissALTI3D, and DHM25 for the distant ring, in the Alpine_Hero map. Free geodata, commercial use allowed; the credit "© swisstopo" goes with every copy.
- Elevation data derived from the USGS 3D Elevation Program DEM in the RealWorldDEM map. U.S. public domain; credit requested: "Elevation data: U.S. Geological Survey, 3D Elevation Program".
- Rock and fern models from Poly Haven under CC0 1.0 (boulder_01, namaqualand_boulder_05, rock_07 and fern_02). The grass, flowers, shrubs, trees and the other rocks are made by our own scripts.
The samples project carries its own lists of sources and processing.
