Description

Serialised as one byte; append only.

Values

ValueMeaning
Raw = 0

The canonical bytes as they are.

Predicted

The canonical header, then the samples row after row as varint tokens of their residual from a median edge predictor (the left, upper and upper-left samples): an even token 2k is the residual Unzig(k), an odd token 2k + 1 a run of k + 2 zero residuals.

A run is as long as it can be, and a lone zero is a residual.
