12. Included in 1.0

Version 1.0 is the first release. The first section names the larger parts of 1.0 and the chapter that describes each; the sections after it list what 1.0 does not include. See the changelog for what each release adds.

  • The editor mode: new terrain, sculpt, smooth, flatten, paint, ground class, holes, plate, corridor, the feature list and bake (The editor mode), with the bake commandlet for build machines.
  • Up to four paint layers per ground point and layer ids 0 to 255 (Materials and layers).
  • Five quality profiles (Low, Medium, High, Epic, Cinematic) and Manual, and the far ring’s normals in Shipping (Performance and quality).
  • Memory work for large worlds: edited tiles kept compact and paged to a session file (Performance and quality).
  • Multiplayer on a listen server, including joins that stream from a file on both sides, and a player who reconnects receiving only what changed (Multiplayer, Coming back).
  • Hardware ray tracing with the terrain’s own material at the hit (Limits).
  • Grass and its Layer Set property (Grass); PCG and foliage that follows edits (chapter 15).
  • The editor feature tools holding a commit or a removal over ground that is still loading (The editor mode).
  • Texture brushes and height stamps: baked brush assets, the starter brush set, rotation, mirror and aspect, bicubic sampling (Blueprint and native callers), splat paint (also as a drag), the Stamp tool and the brush palette (Texture brushes and stamps, Brushes and stamps). They work in multiplayer, and a game can let players upload masks (Brush masks from players).
  • The brush-target extension V2, which hands a mask to your own brush target, and the editor’s Extension Targets picker (Add a brush target).
  • Live spline features: a spline that drives a corridor or a plate, at run time and in the editor, with one undo in the editor and the same answer on every machine, late joiners included (Live splines (runtime), Live splines in the editor).

Version 1.0 supports listen servers only. These are not part of it:

  • A tested dedicated server. The plugin’s own setup for one is built, but the sessions on each supported engine are still to run.
  • A tested Linux dedicated server. The runtime modules build for Linux, but no session against one has been run.

Not part of 1.0:

  • Separate Import and Settings entries in the mode’s Manage palette, which lists New and Bake only. Use New (import) and the terrain actor’s details.
